Jeffrey Halbrecht, MD & Ephraim Dickinson, MD

Orthopedic Surgeons & Sports Medicine Physicians located in San Francisco, CA

IASM is a comprehensive practice with over 30 years of providing state-of-the-art sports medicine and orthopedic care to patients in the Pacific Heights area of San Francisco, California. Led by board-certified orthopedic surgeon Jeffrey Halbrecht, MD, and Dr. Ephraim Dickinson the practice offers several advanced solutions to injuries affecting the knees, shoulders, elbows, and ankles as well as in-office MRIs.

Both doctors provide conservative and surgical treatment options as well as physical rehabilitation for effective, comprehensive care. They specialize in arthroscopic surgery — a minimally invasive surgical technique that allows them to provide surgical treatment without making large incisions.

Dr. Halbrecht attended Columbia University in New York City, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts. He then went on to New York University School of Medicine where he earned his Doctor of Medicine. After medical school, Dr. Halbrecht began his medical training with an internship in general surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City.

After completing his orthopedic surgery residency at New York University Medical Center, Dr. Halbrecht went on to complete fellowship training in knee and shoulder surgery from the Southern California Center for Sports Medicine in Long Beach, California. As a pioneer in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery, Dr. Halbrecht has produced several articles and presentations on in-office arthroscopic techniques. He’s also lectured other orthopedic surgeons from around the world on various techniques in arthroscopic surgery. Dr. Halbrecht is the inventor of Versalok®, a surgical device that improves the success and speed of rotator cuff repair.

Dr. Halbrecht is an active member of several medical societies including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine.

Dr. Ephraim Dickinson attended Williams College where he studied political science and biology. From there he received his MD from Columbia University before moving to San Francisco to complete his orthopedic residency. Following residency, he completed a fellowship in Sports Shoulder and Elbow at OrthoCarolina in Charlotte. While there he was assistant team physician to the Carolina Panthers and the Charlotte Knights.

At IASM, Dr. Halbrecht & Dr. Dickinson provide safe and effective treatment for many conditions including ACL injuries, rotator cuff injuries, shoulder dislocation, meniscus tears, and various soft tissue injuries. To schedule your visit call the office or book an appointment online today.
